We were born in 2012, on the first of June. We started in Aberdeen and Sioux Falls. Rapid City came along in 2016. We’re a group of South Dakotans (and a dash of Minnesotans) with a shared vision that have added talented friends along the way and now we’re around 25 strong. Our goal is to be the premiere design shop in the Midwest.
The name “CO-OP” is a tribute to the cooperation and collaboration that happens in rural communities. Our firm designs all manner of architecture, save for single family homes and multi-family/developer stuff. We don’t really do that. But we do schools, churches, offices, civic, public, historic, and the like. We also do interior design and master planning. We once did a 1/3 scale pirate ship. We don’t do pirate ships anymore. We want to help define South Dakota architecture and design our cities and towns to make life better. And try to do it with ingenuity and good cheer.
