Lake Hendricks, MN (2021)

Here at CO-OP, we never do residential work. Ever. Here’s a residential project we did anyway.

The Lake Hendricks Retreat, aka Bonaparte’s (Lake) Retreat, is a getaway on the South Dakota/Minnesota border. Not certain how the maritime law shakes out, but I do think the split technically makes MN the land of 9,999.5 lakes.

Located among the corn and soybeans of southwest Minnesota, this cabin is not of the North Woods, but rather the High Plains. The design was influenced by the agrarian language of scattered farmhouses in the area. At around $200/SF, it’s a balance of beauty and economy. Just like the farmsteads nearby.
