Sioux Falls, SD (2020)

This former freight depot was a workhorse in its day. But when the switching yard left Downtown Sioux Falls in 2018, it was just a depot without a train. A country song waiting to be written.

We have a thing for old train depots, I guess. Just old stuff in general. We’re old souls finding our way in the new age. Or something like that.

Anyway, this building was doing nothing but getting older after the City bought the switching yard from Burlington Northern. We gave it some juice. Today it’s a hip member of the East Bank renaissance. Home to an engineering firm, a law office, a barber and a brewery on the street level. Plus a couple of nice guys in the two lofts upstairs.
